Week 4, Post 2 - Websites I Frequently Visit

I would be lying if I didn't admit that Amazon.com is my "go to" site for the majority of items I'd like to purchase.  Amazon.com is very easy to navigate, search, and checkout.  It makes buying products extremely simple and convenient.  The concept is obviously to sell almost anything under the sun.  There are very few tangible items that I haven't been able to find on Amazon.  The depth of content is is unfathomable.  Although, Amazon keeps items and information organized so that you're not overwhelmed by product descriptions.  Once you click on an item, you can get a more in depth description, product specifications, and customer reviews.  Repetition, alignment, and contrast are evident on the Amazon website.  These three concepts make it easy to navigate and may lure visitors in to continue "shopping."

Another website that I use frequently is sdccu.com.  I have personal and business accounts at San Diego County Credit Union, and I also utilize the Bill Pay for paying bills online.  The SDCCU website has a well defined concept, layout, and design.  The contrast of colors and graphics is decent, but could certainly be updated to make it more appealing.  The typography is clean and legible, but somewhat boring. The layout and design is repetitive so it's clear that you're still visiting the SDCCU website.  However, when I login on the mobile website, the Bill Pay system is completely different and is not easy to navigate.  That is an area that could greatly benefit from a well thought out redesign.

Overall, sdccu.com is easy to navigate and is fairly aesthetically pleasing.  I don't visit the site for the graphics, I visit mainly to pay my bills and review purchases, deposits, and withdrawals.  Even though the site is not the most appealing, I will continue to visit because it serves a purpose and meets my needs.

  1. Who doesn't use Amazon it's insane how much of a retail giant its becoming in such a short amount of time, I feel since everything is online and people refuse to leave their house at all having a poorly made website can probably lead to the demise of a company.
