Week 16 - Planning Your Future Strategy
During the past few months, I’ve learned a great deal about
how to effectively use social media to build my business. I definitely prefer some platforms over
others but feel they all have something to offer, depending on the type of
product or service a business offers.
My least favorite social media platform is Twitter. It could be because I have a preconceived
notion that it’s mainly used for political issues. Regardless, I don’t feel it’s as easy to
navigate as other social media platforms and it doesn’t seem to be advantageous
in marketing my machine rental business.
LinkedIn is a great platform for networking on a
professional level. However, based on
what I’ve learned, it is not the right medium for promoting my business.
Setting up and using a blog has been a good learning
experience for me. Although I think it’s
an excellent platform to share information, I don’t’ feel it would benefit my
business. There’s only so much one can
write about margarita machines. People
would, most likely, become bored with the lack of variety in my blog
posts.
There is a lot of potential to build my business using Instagram. I have learned that it’s important to post
photos that are interesting and inviting.
In order to get likes and increase the number of followers, I will have
to be strategic in both the photos, hashtags, and verbiage used in the
comments.
My favorite social media platform is Facebook. I have 150 or so followers which is a good
start to building my online presence. Similar
to Instagram, I will have to be creative to make sure my posts are interesting
and inviting. Drawing people in so they
want to learn more is one of my goals.
Post engagement is key to increase likes, followers, and increase
sales.
I plan to spend a few hours a week creating posts for
Facebook and Instagram. I can create
several in one sitting and then schedule the posts for a later date. One great post a week will keep Margarita Man
fresh in people’s minds so that they will think of it when planning their next event.
My upcoming promotions will focus on holidays and well-known
events. They include New Year’s Eve,
Superbowl Sunday, and National Margarita Day (February 22nd). At the end of February, I will launch a wedding
campaign that promotes margarita machine rentals for bridal showers, rehearsal
dinners, and wedding receptions. This is
a large part of my business so I plan to focus a good amount of time on this campaign. It would be wise to hire a graphic designer
to assist with some graphics and photos that will be enticing to my target
audience.
I have the same viewpoint on Twitter and don't really think it's an effective social media platform for all businesses in general. I think hiring a graphic designer is a great idea and will probably do the same.
ReplyDeleteAlisa,
ReplyDeleteWonderful post! I especially resonated with your thoughts on the potency of Instagram and the nuisances of Twitter. I think your ideas to promote Margarita Man aroudn the holidays will be very profitable.
Wishing you the best!
I'm kind of opposite. For me Twitter is easy to navigate and Facebook is a pain. I agree with you I don't think a blog would be very advantageous for your business. I think your use of fun/humorous posts is a perfect fit for your business type . Best of luck with Margarita Man!
ReplyDeleteAlisa,
ReplyDeleteI really like how you are planning out the next year in promotions and ads. That is a great idea to have a head start (to begin brain storming) in advanced so you don't have to do brainstorm promotions every week. Great job!
